EUROS ROWLANDS

The series of Interiors are collages manipulated digitally through a range of applications. The initial inspiration for these were the memory of looking at the work of Matisse and Bonnard at MoMA, New York during the late 90s. Matisse’s assertion that he wanted his work to have the feel of a comfortable armchair has sometimes distorted his radicalism, and the impact of these works on me was something I wanted to revisit and apply a contemporary practice to the breaking down of colour and space, and the subtle shifts between mathematical and remembered perspective.
